AI citations: checking how answers describe your supplier company

At a glance

For a supplier, an accurate description matters more than collecting screenshots of company mentions. Review what an answer tells a prospective buyer about your activity, operating location and evidence, then compare it with your approved company information.

Compare the actual answers

Start with questions about the products, services and locations your company serves. Record the wording, language, platform and date alongside the response. A useful comparison shows what a buyer was told and which source supports it. See our guide to AI search visibility.

Separate a mention from a usable reference

A company name in an answer does not establish supplier status, certification or experience. Check each claim against its cited source and your current records. Record a mention separately from a link, and flag descriptions that overstate the work your company can deliver.

A worked accuracy record

Illustrative record, not a client result: an answer describes a supplier as an equipment manufacturer, but its cited page only says it distributes equipment. Record the exact sentence, cited URL, question, language and date; classify the claim as unsupported by that source. Check the approved company profile before requesting a correction. A correct company name does not make the activity claim correct.

Do not turn a sample into a guarantee

A citation study describes the questions and results its researchers measured. It does not establish a guaranteed way to appear in a different answer, language or market. Use the linked studies as context and test the questions relevant to your own company.

Review the page a buyer reaches

The destination should make the relevant products or services, operating area and contact route clear. Publish credentials and completed work only where disclosure is approved. Explain enough for an initial discussion while keeping confidential customer records and supporting application material private.

Questions

What should we check in an AI description of our company?
Check the activity, location, credentials and source links against current approved company information.
Does a company mention prove buyer approval?
No. A mention or citation is not evidence of registration, an invitation or a procurement decision.
What should we correct first?
Correct inaccurate information on pages and profiles you control, then record unresolved descriptions on other platforms.
