AI search

What generative engine optimization is, and how it differs from SEO

Summary

Generative engine optimization, or GEO, describes work intended to improve how a company is represented in AI-generated answers. For Keybridge, that work starts with accurate service information, an accessible website and a defined way to review results. It does not provide control over a platform’s answers.

Agree the business questions

Choose questions that reflect the services, customers and markets the company actually serves. Avoid creating a separate page for every minor wording variation. A useful page should help the buyer understand a real decision.

Review the current answers

Record the questions, language, date and observed answers before changing the site. Distinguish a company mention from a linked citation and inspect whether the description is accurate. Our citation comparison guide sets out that distinction.

Keep search fundamentals in place

Google’s guidance states that its AI search features do not require special AI markup. Pages still need to meet the relevant search requirements. Follow the official Google guidance rather than treating a new file or schema label as a shortcut to inclusion.

Make the company’s information reliable

Align the name, services, locations and contact details across the pages the company controls. Publish useful evidence with permission. Keep headings and answers clear, but do not add unsupported statistics or quotations simply to make a passage appear authoritative.

Review languages as complete versions

Use the languages that serve the intended customers and keep facts consistent between them. Test the Arabic reading order, service terminology and forms. The corporate Arabic review covers these checks.

Measure observations and business outcomes

Agree the questions, platforms and reporting interval. Record what appeared in each review instead of presenting one screenshot as a permanent result. Review relevant inquiries alongside visibility, as explained in measuring AI referrals.

Set a clear scope

The corporate website proposal identifies the pages, technical work and any search review included. Rankings, citations and inquiry volumes are outcomes to measure, not placements Keybridge can guarantee.
