When AI answers leave out your supplier company
A prospective buyer may have your company name without a clear picture of its capabilities. If search or an AI answer provides little useful information, first check whether your own website explains the work, location and contact route. One missing mention does not establish lost business.

Record the missing answer before diagnosing it
Save the exact question, language, platform, date and response. Separate a named-company query from a general supplier query: absence from a shortlist and failure to describe a named company are different observations. Record the cited pages and repeat the same question later before treating a single result as a pattern.
Separate a content gap from an access problem
Open the relevant service page directly. If it omits the activity or location the buyer asked about, record a content correction. If it fails to load or is excluded from search, ask the site owner to investigate access and indexing. If the page is accessible and accurate, leave the cause of the missing AI mention unresolved. Google’s guidance explains eligibility for its own AI features; meeting that guidance does not guarantee selection.
Example: a missing location
Illustrative example: a distributor serves Erbil, but its public page lists only its Baghdad office. An answer to an Erbil supplier question omits it. The justified action is to verify and clarify the service area, not to claim that the omission proves a penalty. Keep the before-and-after page wording and the next observed answer as separate evidence.
Do not assume the market is empty
The absence of a familiar competitor from one response does not mean a category is uncontested. Record the companies and sources that appear, then assess whether the answer actually matches the buyer’s request. See how to compare AI citations.
